Ruth and Esther

Ruth and Esther are the only two books with primary female protagonists. They also share an identical opening phrase, "wayĕhî bîmê", ‘and there was in the days of’. And it is only those two books that open with that phrase. Ruth is about a foreigner coming into Israel and Esther is about an Israelite going into a foreign society.
