Fruit, Meat, Flesh

The layers of meaning of Scripture unfold the further we read. In the Garden, we ate with God. The next level of meaning is when God comes and dwells and eats with man again in the tabernacle and temple. The new layer of meaning there is that we eat we eat meat, not fruit. The final step is the Lord’s Supper where we feast on God himself. Who would have guessed in Genesis that the eating of the fruit pointed forward to feeding on God. Fruit to animal to man.
