Ezekiel's Four-Fold Forth

The phrase “The word of the Lord came to me” occurs 50 times in Ezekiel. The four time is in 7:1. In 7:2, YHWH speaks of a four-fold destruction of Israel: “And you, O son of man, thus says the Lord God to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.” The fourth word from YHWH issues in a four-fold destruction of the world. This may be similar to the increasing judgments in Revelation; that is, the seventh seal gives way to seven trumpets and the seventh trumpet gives way to the seven bowls. But, we are not at the final destruction in Revelation, so we have four-fold destruction.
